Again, APC reschedules presidential primary to Sept 28

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has again rescheduled the presidential primary election to Friday, September 28.

The APC acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr Yekini Nabena, said in a statement on Monday that the action was taken to enable registered members in Osun State participate in the exercise.

“In view of the Osun State Governorship rerun election which has been scheduled for Thursday, September 27th, 2018, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) has now rescheduled the presidential primary election to Friday, September 28th, 2018.

“This is to avoid a clash in dates with the Osun State Governorship rerun election and enable all registered Party members in all thirty-six states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) participate in the exercise,” said Nabena.

On Sunday, the APC acting spokesman had earlier announced that the presidential direct primary election earlier scheduled for Tuesday, September 25, 2018 would hold on Thursday, September 27, 2018.

He told duly registered party members to collect their permanent membership cards from their respective wards.

Before last week’s major review of the timetable for primaries, the presidential primary election was originally fixed for September 20, 2018.

The National Convention (Presidential), where the presidential candidate will be formally ratified, still holds on Saturday, October 6, 2018 as earlier announced.
