After Daily Trust report, work kicks off on Kuje road

Months after a report by Daily Trust on the deplorable state of the only access road to Kuje Town, capital of Kuje Area Concil of the FCT, accommodating thousands of workers who work in Abuja City, work has started to give the road a facelift.

Daily Trust in September, 2020, reported the hardship residents go through while plying the road as a result of gridlock from Tipper Garage to Secretariat Junction occasioned by its deplorable condition.

Speaking to our reporter, the spokesperson of the chairman of the council, Nuhu Tanko, said the chairman was more worried than anyone over the deplorable state of the road and that he had been working towards rehabilitating it.

Tanko said they met with the Minister of the FCT to lay a complaint about the road, and that the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) promised to fix the road.

A resident, Mr Yakuku, commended the government for remembering the people of Kuje, saying despite that life was a bit comfortable when it came to house rent, food and others, many people had packed out of the town due to the bad road and epileptic power supply.

A commercial driver, Bako Dauda, also said the bad road had done a lot of harm to many peoples’ vehicles, adding that, “We are happy this is coming in this New Year.”
