After successfully completing the signing of Sporting Lisbon star midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United are now reportedly on the hunt for another Norwegian star with a Red Devils scout watching Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard at the weekend.
Manchester United were strongly linked with a move for Erling Haaland recently however he decided to join Borussia Dortmund instead.
Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is Norwegian and it seems he is keen on signing players from the same nation as himself.
United head of global scouting Marcel Bout was photographed watching Real Sociedad’s La Liga match with Valencia on Saturday.
It’s been claimed by El Diario Vasco that Bout was specifically in attendance to watch Odegaard, who is loan at Sociedad from Real Madrid.
Odegaard has impressed in La Liga this season, scoring seven goals for Sociedad, who currently sit sixth in the table.
Odegaard has been heavily linked with a summer transfer having seen his career stall for a few years.
The 21-year-old joined Real Madrid in 2015 but has made just one La Liga appearance for Los Blancos.
Though he recently insisted he wants to remain at the Bernabeu and fight for his place.
He said: “At the end of last season, I felt it wouldn’t be good for me to go back to Madrid.
“For young players, and for me in this moment, it’s very important to have playing time.
“In Madrid, I think it’s really hard to get that. There are a lot of good players there and huge competition.
“It was obvious that it’s better for me to go on loan, I think the club accepted it too, that’s why we decided it so quickly.
“My objective is still to play for Real Madrid. That’s why I signed for them, I want to play there one day.
“I think I’ve improved in the past two years. I think I’m a better player and more mature, and stronger.”
