The private sector must play a key role in helping Africa achieve its net-zero goals by 2060, Suleiman Yahyah, founder of Rosehill Group, a leading investment firm in Africa, has said.
Yahyah made the call in an interview with CNBC Africa recently following the landmark Africa Climate Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The summit brought together African leaders, climate experts, business leaders and representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to discuss ways to speed up climate action on the continent.
Yahyah said the summit was a “crucial milestone” in regional policymaking and market sensitisation, and that the $26bn investment pledge made at the summit was just the “tip of the iceberg.”
