The Golden League/All Comers competition in Abuja has been extended by one day by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

The two-day event, which had been slated to take place at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola National Stadium from May 25 to 26, will now serve as the AFN’s inaugural competition for all athletes this year.

The competition will now take place from May 26 through May 27 at the same location, according to a statement issued by the federation.

“I am directed to inform you that the AFN Golden League and All Comers competitions scheduled to take place at MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja from 25th – 26th May, 2023 has been shifted by a day.

“This one-day shift is as a result of the cordoning of the stadium based on part of the presidential inauguration programme scheduled to take place in package A on the 25th May, 2023.

“The programme has now been rescheduled to hold from 26th – 27th May, 2023,” said the AFN in the letter sent to athletics stakeholders.

The AFN says accommodation arrangements have been made at the National Institute for Sports Hostel in Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium for all athletes that have arrived or are on their way to compensate for the one-day shift of the event.
