Afe Babalola Multi-System Hospital completes 4 kidney transplants

Afe Babalola Multi-System Hospital, AMSH, in Ado-Ekiti Ekiti State,  has  successfully completed four  kidney transplants in the hospital.

The hospital which has grown from offering 10 dialysis sessions per month to now over 400 session monthly.

The Chief Medical Director, CMD, AMSH, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe, introduced  the new kidney transplant programme, and partnership to newsmen at the hospital complex in the state.

Dr Ogun diaper said: “We are proud to announce the expansion of our kidney transplant programme through a new partnership with Marengo Asia Healthcare Limited, a leading healthcare provider in India.

“These surgeries represent a monumental step forward, allowing the hospital to offer life- saving care and specialised treatment without the need for patients to seek care abroad.

“The visiting urologist and kidney transplant surgeon, Dr Rajeev Sood, from the Marengo Hospital, were  accompanied on the  trip by Dr Ajit Kumar and Mr Rishi Ojha.”

AMSH will expand its services under the partnership to include: endourology services to introduce minimally invasive options for managing complex urological conditions, penile implants for erectile dysfunction offering new solutions to improve quality of life, and laparoscopic and advanced surgical procedures, providing cutting-edge, minimally invasive surgeries for a wide range of conditions.

The CMD said the transplant additions strengthen AMSH’s role as a leading healthcare provider in the region, bringing advanced medical care and expertise closer to the people of Nigeria.

He noted that with another visit from Marengo Hospital scheduled for the second week of January 2025, the hospital is excited about the potential for further collaboration and service expansion, making AMSH a leader in specialised medical care.
