Though, the African foremost development bank when announcing its annual meetings on its website only mentioned “election of a president” as one of its agenda, Daily Trust learnt Adesina will be returned for the second term unopposed.
“The Group will hold its 2020 Annual Meetings virtually, from 25-27 August, 2020.
“These will comprise statutory meetings of the Board of Governors.
“A major agenda item of this year’s Annual Meetings is the election of a president”, the bank said on its website.
But the top official of the bank, who confided in Daily Trust Wednesday said the re-election of President Adesina is the main priority for this year’s annual meeting.
“The re-election of President Adesina is the main priority for this year’s annual meeting.
“We only used the word “election” on our website to avoid preempting governors’ decision”, the official said.
The official, who begged not to be named, said Adesina will be unopposed, as he didn’t have a challenger when the official nomination process ended earlier in the year.
