AFCON Qualifier: Super Eagles land in Sierra Leone for 2nd leg tie

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone for the second leg tie of their African Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday.

The three-time African champions surrendered their four-goal lead to draw 4-4 with the Leone Stars in the 2021 AFCON qualifying match played at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City last week.

The dismal outing against their less illustrious opponents drew a lot of criticisms from football lovers in the country with some questioning the technical capacity of the Coach Gernot Rohr.

The Super Eagles are expected to have their first training at Siaka Stevens Stadium at 4.45pm(Sierra Leonean time)…which will be 5.45pm Nigerian time.

It would be recalled that the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick had in a viral video expressed his disappointment about the outcome of the first leg match just as he charged the team to win the second leg match with 4 unreplied goals.

“It is for us to go to Sierra Leone and beat them that 4-0. It is not winning, winning is an understatement,” Pinnick said.
