The National Action Committee on the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) has begun its sensitization in Kaduna to ensure Nigerians leverage on the free trade pact.
It is expected to deliver an integrated continental market of 1.27 billion consumers with an aggregate Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $3.4 trillion.
The committee on Tuesday met with Governor Nasir el-Rufai and top government officials in the state before a stakeholders’ meeting of the sector.
The Minister of Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo, said Kaduna State was selected as the first point of call due to its reputation as the number one state in the ease of doing business.
Adebayo, who was represented by the Director, Trade Department, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Abubakar Aliyu said: “Kaduna State is number one for ease of doing business in the country. The state, over the past years, has introduced a number of policies to ensure that business is simplified.”
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Sector Matters, Francis Anatogu said: “Our strategy is to work with the states based on their areas of comparative advantage and priorities as a way of building our national export trade and creating jobs at the grassroots level.”
