‘Adultery’: Suspended Jigawa Commissioner denies allegation, threatens legal action

Suspended Jigawa Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, has denied involvement in an unlawful affair with a married woman as alleged by Kano State Hisbah Board, saying he would take legal action against those attempting to damage his reputation.

Daily Trust had reported how operatives of the Kano State Hisbah command arrested Sankara for allegedly committing adultery with a married woman.

The arrest, according to the Hisbah Director General, Abba Sufi, followed a complaint filed to it by the woman’s husband, Nasiru Bulama, who accused Sankara of having an affair with his wife.

But reacting to the allegation, the suspended commissioner said he did not have any affair with the married woman in question.

He described the allegations as false and malicious attempt aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Sankara in a statement, said, “My attention has been drawn to a recent media report alleging that I, Auwal D. Sankara, Commissioner for Special Duties in the Jigawa State Government, have been arrested by the Kano Hisbah Command on charges of having an affair with a married woman.

“I wish to categorically state that these allegations are entirely false, baseless, and malicious, aimed at tarnishing my reputation.”

He further added that the story was concocted by some political elements to damage his integrity, stating that he would take legal action against those responsible.

“I urge the general public to disregard this fabricated story, which has been concocted by certain political elements to damage my character and integrity.

“As a married man, I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in actions that violate its sanctity.

“I remain committed to upholding the values and principles that I stand for.

“I am taking this matter seriously and will pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading this false information and attempting to cause harm to my person.”

Meanwhile, the Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar A. Namadi, has approved the immediate suspension of Sankara as Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Special Duties and member of the State Executive Council, pending an investigation into allegations made by the Kano State Hisbah.
