A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Niger state, Mohammed Yabagi has withdrawn from the race citing lack of unity of purpose among stakeholders and alleged bias against him by key party members.
In a statement made available to Daily Trust on Saturday in Minna, the aspirant said he was key to swelling the party’s membership through vigorous grassroots mobilization but said he was been treated as an outcast, while also alleging a gang up by certain elements within the party to scuttle his aspiration.
The aspirant specifically accused the Niger South officials, where he also hailed of conniving with certain individuals to undermine him, adding that because of the anomaly he was not being carried along in party activities at the zone.
He said because of such disposition towards him, he has decided, after due consultations with his camp, to withdraw from the primary of the party ahead of 2019 election.
Daily Trust learnt that three aspirants, which include Isah Kawu, Barrister Bello Bwari and Comrade Yabagi were expected to vie for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2019 governorship election in the state through a direct primary slated for Saturday.
Yabagi’s withdrawal has however narrowed the contest between Kawu and Bwari.
