The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), says it is ready and willingness to assist the Nigerian Navy in the ongoing investigation into the death of Rear Adm. Teikumor Ikoli.
Ikoli was on April 5 found dead in his Lagos home, but naval authorities said the cause of his death had not been established.
He was Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, Apapa and later appointed into the Presidential Committee on the probe of arms deal, before he became Fleet Commander, Western Naval Command.
Mr Eric Omare, the IYC’s President, via a statement issued on Monday in Yenagoa, said the circumstances of Ikoli’s demise from gunshot in a locked room at his Lagos residence, required thorough and transparent investigation.
“The Ijaw ethnic nationality demands to be part and parcel of the investigation in order to unravel the real cause of the death and those behind it.
“We, therefore, call on the military authorities to include a representative of the Ijaw ethnic nationality as part of the investigative team to ensure transparency in the process,’’ Omare said. (NAN)
