The fight went the distance as all three judges scored the fight in favour of Adesanya who fought with caution all night.
Romero adopted an orthodox style in the first round, standing still and waiting for the Style Bender to come towards him before he strikes.
But the fight left viewers sorely disappointed.
ESPN posted a cut clip of the fight on Twitter, and responses to the video showed how bored many viewers were.
Responders to the clip showing both fighters exchanging words with bugs commented on how both fighters fought better post-fight than during the fight itself.
