The 2024 NLNG Golf Classic concluded over the weekend at the Bonny Island Golf Club (BIGC), Rivers State, with Oluwaseun Adedipe and Lady Kafayat Bamimore emerging as top winners in the men’s and ladies’ categories.
The two-day tournament, sponsored by Nigeria LNG, kicked off with a tee-off ceremony graced by NLNG MD Dr. Philip Mshelbila, alongside dignitaries such as Engr Emmanuel Nnabuife, Capt. Lawrence Chukwu, BIGC Captain Abubakar Hussaini, and Lady Captain Darlene Cobham. Over 100 golfers competed across multiple categories on BIGC’s lush and serene course.
Adedipe clinched victory in the NLNG Men’s Division 1 with a gross score of 77 (net 67), playing off handicap 10. Smart Tobin, with a gross score of 82 (net 70), edged Hussaini on countback for second place. Hussaini posted a gross of 77 (net 70) to settle for third.
In Ladies Division 1, Bamimore, playing off handicap 28, won with a gross of 100 (net 72). Cobham finished runner-up with a gross of 101 (net 73), while Nkechi Nwafor placed third with a gross of 100 (net 75).
Oludare Oyegbami claimed the Men’s Division 2 title with a gross of 92 (net 73), narrowly beating BIGC Vice Captain Michael Ukaegbu on countback. Bessie Obei won Ladies Division 2 with a gross of 107 (net 74).
Other highlights included Ewache Iyoko’s victory in Men’s Division 3 with a gross of 97 (net 72), while Akpan Emmanuel and Juliet Friday emerged winners in the Guest Men’s and Ladies’ categories, respectively. Notable performances also came from Mustapha Hassan, Uche Isikaku, and Nkoyo Igunbor.
