The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, clocked 80 on Wednesday.
Over the years, the renowned pastor, popularly referred to as Daddy G.O, has attained several remarkable milestones as an individual and a minister.

Here are eight major achievements of the octogenarian pastor you probably didn’t know of.
Mathematics Professor
Adeboye was a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Lagos until in 2020 when the institution declared his position as the Professorial Chair of Mathematics vacant.
“The person that will occupy the Pastor E. A. Adeboye Professorial Chair of Mathematics shall be expected to teach and supervise existing or newly designed courses at both undergraduates and postgraduates’ levels in Mathematics and carry out research in any specialized area of Mathematics,” the advert stated.
Top influential 100 Africans
Adeboye was also cited as one of the top 100 most influential Africans by New African Magazine in 2019. Notably, the famous pastor appeared in the top 10 on the list alongside business magnates, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and Ellon Musk.
Master’s in Hydrodynamics
The professor, who was a mathematics lecturer at the University of Ilorin, also obtained a master’s degree in hydrodynamics from the University of Lagos in 1969.
RCCG branches in 100 countries
Since 1981, when he became the General Overseer of the RCCG, the church now has branches in over 100 countries across the world, including more than 14,000 in Nigeria.
Author of over 100 Books
Currently, Adeboye has written over 100 books in English, French and other major languages of the world. The books also serve as his evangelical mission to reach out to the world.
OFR Honouree
In 2008, Adeboye was awarded the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by late former President Umar Musa Yar’Adua. About 275 Nigerians were honoured in Abuja with various categories of national award that year.
World’s 50 Most Powerful People
In recognition of his track record, Adeboye was named one of ‘The World’s 50 Most Powerful People’ by Newsweek Magazine (USA) in 2009.
Spiritual Pillar of Nigerian sports
In 2010 the redoubtable general overseer was presented with a national sports honour – Spiritual Pillar of Nigerian Sports. The award was conferred on him and his wife, Folu, by the National Association of Nigerian Footballers and Save Nigerian Sports Initiative, a group dedicated to the revival of Nigeria’s sagging fortunes in the games.
