I write through this medium to humbly appeal to the governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to kindly try and solve the problems facing the 20 local government councils in Bauchi State.
I acknowledge your commitment to ensuring total transformation of the councils and for them to fulfill the aspirations and expectations of the rural people.
- Few passengers as Aminu Kano airport reopens
- Rape & paedophilia: COVID-19 partial lockdown, weak laws, poverty, exacerbate cases of gender-based violence in Bauchi State (PART 2)
This was demonstrated when you visited one of the local government councils secretariat where you promised to provide the necessary resources to ensure that they function properly.
But sadly, local government councils in Bauchi State are still not showing any real sign of development since then. While thanking you for your people-oriented projects, I still believe that something ought to be done to redefine the status of our local government areas.
Sir, I want to remind you that rural people, who trusted you with their mandate, hope that you will set an example by systematically and creatively responding to the numerous problems facing the local government councils which is the closest government to them.
Honestly, the situation of local government councils under your administration ought to be better than what it is today. Workers in the local councils deserve better from your administration.
Your Excellency, we appeal to you not to entertain any sentiment in ensuring full funding of local government councils in the interests of your people in the rural areas who voted massively for you.
This is the only way to restore the confidence of the rural people on your promise to deliver. We are all aware of the challenges you met when you took over the administration of the state.
We plead with you to come to our aid. Kindly consider changing the narrative as far as funding of local government councils is concerned.
Whatever achievement, performance or non-performance will be measured also by the rural people who trusted you with their sacred mandate.
