Daily Trust reports that accreditation and voting are yet to commence in any of the 40 polling units, across the 14 LGAs, affected in today’s supplementary governorship election.

However, it is a straight fight between the incumbent Governor Jibrila Bindow of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that the March 9 governorship election in the state was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the number of cancelled votes exceeded the winning margin between the two major contenders.

In declaring the election inconclusive, INEC said the margin recorded by the PDP candidate was lower than the 40,998 votes cancelled in 40 units across over 14 LGAs in the state.

According to INEC, whereas PDP’s Finitiri polled 367,471 votes, the incumbent Governor and candidate of the APC trailed with 334,995 votes, leaving a margin of 32,476.
