Adamawa: ‘Supplementary poll crisis coup against Nigeria’

A former Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Ambrose Aisabor (Rtd), has condemned the declaration of APC candidate, Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani as winner of Adamawa governorship election amid result collation.

Aisabor, while speaking with Daily Trust yesterday in Benin, Edo State capital, described the development as a civilian coup against Nigeria.

“The declaration of a ‘winner’ of Adamawa supplementary election when results were still being collated was a civilian coup that was well planned but failed woefully,” he said.

“Since the INEC headquarters has now nullified the results announced by the state REC, it is hoped that they do the needful to conclude the process as soon as possible and the true winner announced to douse tension in the state,” he said.

He called on INEC to use the Adamawa crisis to redeem its already battered image by ensuring that there is no part three in the drama currently playing out in Adamawa state.
