The Adamawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders comprising of aspirants, statutory delegates and other major stakeholders have requested for direct primaries.
The text of the press conference addressed yesterday in Abuja was signed by Engr. Babachir Lawal; Sen. Ahmed Abubakar Mo’Allayidi; Sen. Abubakar Halilu Girei; Senator Bello Tukur, a statutory delegate; Engr. Marcus Gundiri; Malam Nuhu Ribadu; Sadiq Muhammed (Walin Ganye); Dr Mahmoud Halilu, a governorship aspirant.
In the text read by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engr. Lawal, the stakeholders dissociated themselves from the purported resolution of a meeting of the APC State Executive Committee (SEC) convened at the Government House on Monday, September 3, 2018 where indirect primaries were allegedly adopted as mode of electing party flag bearers.
They said the resolution at the ‘secret meeting’ which was done in bad faith was bound to affect the image and chances of party in the forthcoming elections.
The stakeholders added that they were constrained to express their rejection to the indirect primaries being allegedly concocted by Adamawa State government and their cohorts in furtherance to the earlier press conference of April 27, 2018 on APC elective congresses.
While further expressing their support for direct primaries, they highlighted its merits as stated in the letter earlier addressed to the APC national chairman and NEC at the press conference attended by Malam Ribadu and Engr. Gundiri among other signatories.
