The Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor David Finchuwa Jatau, announced that the state has procured farm inputs worth five hundred million naira, with another sixty-five trucks of inputs expected to arrive in batches.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, Doctor Sini Thakma, expressed confidence that the distribution chain of the fertilizer cannot be compromised, thanks to the strategic plan in place to reach smallholder farmers.

During the event, the Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and President of NECAS, Alhaji Sadiq Daware, conveyed goodwill messages.

The flag-off ceremony was preceded by the inauguration of the Governing Board members of the College of Agriculture Ganye, where the Commissioner of Agriculture, Professor David Fin Jatau, charged the board members to work towards the repositioning of the college’s status.

The Commissioner applauded the professional disposition of the Board Chairman, Professor Iliyasu Audu, expressing confidence that the team would deliver on its mandate.

Responding, Professor Audu pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him and his team, promising to fast-track the accreditation process of some of the courses in the college.

He identified non-accreditation and lack of funding as the two major issues facing the college, and assured that the board would tackle these challenges head-on.

In addition to this, the Commissioner warned that anyone found selling the fertilizer in the market will face severe consequences and urged members of the public to report any illegal sale of the fertilizer.

He also announced a fifty percent discount on the sale of fertilizer, which will cost thirteen thousand naira per bag of twenty ten ten, NPK.
