Both sentences run concurrently, the chief magistrate Dimas Elishama ruled.

The youth leader, 41, described President Muhammadu Buhari and Boss Mustapha as “useless human beings” he specifically called the SGF a “Bastard and a Dog” in a video he posted on social media on 10th of July, 2021, which went viral.

The Department of State Security had investigated and arraigned him in court through the office of the justice commissioner for prosecution last Friday.

Kato pleaded guilty.

The court had adjourned the matter to Monday the 2nd August.

On Monday, the prosecution provided two witnesses—a DSS operative Zayyanu Adamu and Husseini Nakura, chairman of Adamawa State Concern Citizen—to testify.

Prosecution also tendered confessional statement of Kato and a USB drive as exhibit.

The presiding judge said that the court had considered the plea of the convict to temper justice with mercy, his conduct during the trial, his apology, and that he will not be left to go scot free, but be punished to serve as deterrent to others and sentenced him accordingly.
