Adamawa monarchs seek better partnership over drug war

Two first class traditional rulers in Adamawa State, Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda II, Kwandi Nunguraya; and Biyapo Bwaltam Bently Mboiman II, Murum Mbula, have commended the activities of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) aimed at curbing the menace of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the country.

The monarchs spoke on Tuesday when they paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa (Retd) at its national headquarters in Abuja.

Mr Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy of NDLEA, in a statement on Tuesday, said that the monarchs also called for enhanced partnership between the traditional institution and the agency. They said traditional institutions as a respected system in the society must play an active and important role in the agency’s fight against the drug scourge, especially at the grassroots level where they play influential roles in communities under their control.

In his response, Marwa expressed appreciation to the royal fathers for their visit to support the work of the agency and seek further collaboration.
