There is low turnout of voters in most Polling Units visited in Yola North and South local government areas of Adamawa State, our reporter has observed.
Unlike during the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections when voters trooped out in large number as early as 8am, the crowd seen on Saturday morning was not unprecedented.
Adamu Muazu, one of the residents of Yola, said the zeal to vote had waned since President Muhammadu Buhari who always enjoys massive support of people of North East as well as Atiku Abubakar, a son of the soil, were not contesting in today’s poll.
At Gwadabawa Ward 014 Polling Unit, opposite Deputy Governor’s Office, Yola North Local Government Area (LGA), where the governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC); Abdul-Azeez Nyako, voted at 8:45am, voters were coming out in small number.
Commenting on the low turnout of voters in the ward, Nyako said it was too early to reach a conclusion that there was low voters’ turnout.
He expressed optimism to emerge victorious at the end of the election.
Though there was an improved turnout at Mbamoi Ward inside Nigeria-Korea International Model Nursery and Primary School and Addarawu Ward 009 Unit both in Yola South LGA, the figure could not be said to be commensurate with what was witnessed two weeks ago.
