Sen. Binos Yaroe, PDP member representing Adamawa South Senatorial District, has empowered no fewer than 634 constituents with motorcycles, sewing machines among other items.
Speaking during the inauguration on Wednesday in Mayo-Belwa, Yaroe said the items were meant to empower the beneficiaries to help themselves, families and others around them.
“In today’s empowerment programme, we are distributing over 100 motorcycles, 178 sewing machines, 48 grinding machines, 39 freezers, 250 water pumps and 9 tiler machines for farmers,” he said.
The lawmaker said the other items included 400 knapsack sprayers and 186 bags of fertiliser.
He said every category of people from the nine local government areas in the constituency will benefit from the empowerment programme, especially the party officials.
“Because these are people we worked with and they helped us, we are here to recognise them.
“In the past, we have done empowerment, training programmes and medical outreaches that did not concern party politics, but this time, it will be good we recognise people that have worked for the party,” he said.
He called on the beneficiaries to make a judicious use of the items given to them.
In his remarks, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu, state chairman, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), commended the lawmaker for the gesture.
He called on the party supporters to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to enable them to vote in the 2023 general elections.
Mr Ismail Hamman, a beneficiary from Ganye Local Government Area, who got a motorcycle, thanked the lawmaker, assuring him that he would make a judicious use of the tools as expected (NAN)
