It could be recalled that the senator was two weeks ago honoured by a group of former councilors as ‘’ Senator of the Year.’’
A statement by Ladan Gindau and Haruna Gangkuba, chairman and secretary respectively, Forum of Former Councilors expressed concern that some politicians in a desperate move to get recognition and get paid have resorted to use the forum to earn a living.
Hence the forum disassociated itself from such award. “We have not endorsed the award by a few self-centered people.Those who want to give this award are trying to toy with not only the future of Ganye Chiefdom but also trying to cause confusion in the land,’’ the statement said
The forum therefore called on people to be wary of people or group of persons who may come to present awards to them.
But in a swift reaction, spokesperson of the award-givers, Usman Bobbo Koma, said having made consultations and consideration; the group deemed it wise to honour the senator in appreciation of her immense contributions to the overall development of Ganye chiefdom.
He said, “the choice of our distinguished Senator for this prestigious award was done in good faith to appreciate and acknowledge her giant strides in the present democratic dispensation.
