Adamawa-Cameroon Border: Customs Confiscates 85 Drums, 795 Jerry Cans of Smuggled PMS

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has announced a significant seizure of premium motor spirit (PMS) along the Adamawa-Cameroon border.

The operation, conducted by the Adamawa/Taraba Area Command’s anti-smuggling unit, resulted in the interception of 85 drums and 795 jerry cans of PMS.

According to Comptroller Garba Bashir, the command’s intensified efforts have yielded substantial results, with a total of 17 seizures recorded in the past six weeks. The aggregate Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seized items amounts to N36,952,342.50.

Bashir expressed concern over the persistent demand for PMS in neighboring countries, fueling illegal exports despite the subsidy repeal.

He reiterated the NCS’s commitment to combating fuel smuggling, which poses a significant threat to the nation’s economy.

He said the seized PMS will be auctioned off in accordance with standard operating procedures, with proceeds remitted to the Federation account.
