The chairman of the FCT Football Association Adam Mouktar Mohammed has been appointed Vice President of the Nigeria Teqball Federation (NIGTEQ).
Mouktar Mohammed has been widely hailed for the remarkable energy, industry and innovation he has brought to the FCT FA since he was elected about a year ago.
Earlier this year, the FA chief sponsored an exhibition match to showcase Teqball to the general public.
The Nigeria Teqball Federation will be headed by Habu Gumel, who is also the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).
Plans are already underway to set up a NIGTEQ headquarters for the sport in Abuja.
Reacting to his appointment, Mohammed told Daily Trust that he is quite enthusiastic about the new sport.
“I am happy to be a founding member of this game in Nigeria. Teqball has the potential to rival football in the near future.
“It is a game that is spreading so fast and would be toast of both the young and old,” he said.
Teqball is a new football-based sport played over a curved table and it combines the elements of both football and table tennis.
The sport was founded in Hungary in 2012 and is one of the fastest growing sports in the world today.
