The ActionAid Nigeria, a non-governmental organisation, has trained some youths across 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State on agricultural innovation to make them self-reliant.
Mr Adewale Adedutan, the social mobilisation manager, ActionAid Nigeria, who disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent Friday, said the training was aimed at curbing youth restiveness by empowering them in the agriculture sector.
“We are saying that we can mop the huge number of unemployed youths in Nigeria by making agriculture smarter, greener and more attractive to these youths, thereby increasing our gross domestic product.
“But if we still go by way of the subsistence farming our forbearers are used to, youths will never be attracted to agriculture,” he said.
