The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) has urged all political leaders to act with integrity and transparency in order to rebuild public trust and confidence in the political process.
This is as the group expressed support for the New Nigerian People’s Party’s call for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The Chairman of NAN, Salihu Suleima, in a statement emphasized the seriousness of the allegations against Senator Kwankwaso, stating that they are not only revealing and embarrassing but also pose a threat to the integrity of political leaders in northern Nigeria.
“The petition submitted to the EFCC by the National Secretary of the NNPP, Ogini, outlines various accusations against Senator Kwankwaso, including the non-payment of party polling agents and the embezzlement of funds from the sale of party nomination forms.
“Such allegations, if proven true, could tarnish not only the reputation of Senator Kwankwaso but also that of the northern leadership tradition as a whole,” the group warned.
The group called for accountability and transparency in political leadership, stressing that no individual, regardless of their stature, should be above the law.
