Some senators and members of the House of Representatives have called on President Muhammdu Buhari to act by implementing some of the demands of #EndSARS protesters.

The lawmakers made the call in a joint statement on Wednesday signed by four Senators and 35 members of the House of Representatives.

In the statement signed by Francis Ottah Agbo (PDP, Benue), Sen. Olu Adetunmbi, Sen.Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, Sen.Tolu Odebiyi and (Dr) Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru and others, they stated that they have carefully followed the #ENDSARS protest by young people across Nigeria in the past two weeks.

They lamented the killings in several cities including Jos, Kaduna, Abuja, Benin and Lagos.

“We note that in the recent past, this has been the most elaborate protest that has united young Nigerians across geography, ethnic nationality and religion.

“We observe that the protest goes beyond the excesses of the police formation called Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS),” they stated.

The lawmakers condemned the use of force and shooting of the protesters which allegedly led to the loss of lives and injuries.

“There is no justification whatsoever for security officials who are paid with tax payers’ money to kill unarmed protesters.

“We call on the President to address the nation and take concrete actions to respond to the demands of the protesters,” they urged.
