The Kano State Agro-Climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has said that it is reviewing the environmental laws of the state.
The agency said it was working with the Ministry of Justice to help sponsor bills to the House of Assembly on law review and enforcement to curtail indiscriminate cutting down of trees.
The Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Dr Dahiru M. Hashim, disclosed this during a press conference to launch the community campaign for the initiative.
Daily Trust Saturday reports that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf recently flagged off the planting of three million trees across the state as part of a commitment to the fight against climate change.
