Muslims scholars and imams have been urged to equip themselves with knowledge of contemporary issues.
Prof Lanre Badmus, an expert on Islamic Studies at the University of Ilorin, gave the advice at an anti-corruption training and the use of sermon guides for imams and clerics which was held in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The programme was organised by Al-Habibiyah Islamic Society with the support of MacArthur Foundation.

Prof Badmus said knowledge of Islam and of contemporary local and global issues would guide the imams and other Muslim clerics appropriately while responding to issues affecting Islam and Muslims.
Imam Fuad Adeyemi, the Chief Imam of the organisation, said the programme was to train clerics on the danger of corruption and the use of Islamic methodology to fight graft.
Adeyemi said with support from Islamic clerics, corrupt practices would be reduced.
