The victim of last week’s acid attack in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, Iniubong, has appealed to the government and security agents to do everything possible to apprehend the alleged perpetrator of the act, Lucy Daniel, and make her face the full weight of the law.‎

‎Iniubong, 24, a resident of Akpan Essien Street, was allegedly attacked  with the acid by his ex-girlfriend, Lucy, last Tuesday.

Lucy, 26, who also resides in Uyo, and had called on Iniubong to spray the acid on him, is said to have since fled her home.

Recounting his ordeal, Iniubong said he had retired to bed that faithful day when suddenly he was woken up late in the night by a gentle knock on his door. The knock, he said, continued and when he enquired to know who was at the door, he was surprised to hear Lucy appealing to him to open the door.

“I told her to leave, that I would not open the door for her because we had parted ways. But she continued knocking on the door and begging me that she was stranded and needed a place to pass the night. Reluctantly, I opened the door and as soon as I opened, she splashed the liquid on me, which turned out to be an acid,” iniubong said.

He said both of them were in an intimate relationship for a year but he decided to quit the relationship last year when he noticed that Lucy was a troublesome person.

Iniubong who is currently receiving treatment at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, said they hardly had peace when they were together because she had the habit of constantly igniting quarrels between them.
