The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Northern Elders Forum (NEF) leadership have met to form a united front and confront the challenges bedeviling the northern region.

As part of their efforts to combat prevailing and emerging problems, a delegation of ACF visited the NEF chairman, Professor Ango Abdullahi, at his residence in Zaria, where they deliberated on issues of unity among members of Arewa groups.

In a statement issued by the spokesman for the ACF, Professor Tukur Muhammed-Baba Sunday, the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum paid a courtesy call on Professor Ango Abdullahi, the Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, at his residence in Zaria, to discuss matters of common interests for the region.

According to him, “The ACF delegation was led by Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Dalhatu, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), and Chief Mamman Mike Osman, Chairman, National Executive Committee (NEC). Mohammed-Baba noted that the delegation had an extensive discussion on matters of interest.

He stated that the delegation briefed Abdullahi on the inauguration of new leadership for ACF as well as the resolve of the leadership to regenerate and reinvigorate the organization in outlook and impact.

He also said the discussions centred on ways to guide and influence national discourse on issues relevant to Northern Nigeria such that the region will overcome its varied existential challenges and, ultimately, regain its unity.
