The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has denied allegations ongoing in the media that it has endorsed candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, as its prefered choice.

The forum through its Kano State chapter faulted the report, calling on people to vote for the right person.

Addressing journalists in Kano, the chairman of the Forum in Kano, Dr Faruk Umar, said the report of any such endorsement was falsified by some individuals and meant to confused voters.

“I am addressing you today on an issue that was reported in the media suggesting that Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has decided to support the presidential candidate of PDP. The statement is not true. ACF is not supporting any candidate.

“We have allowed our members to use their discretion and elect the candidate of their choice. The national secretariat has confirmed to us that they have never taken such a position.

“I am calling on all our members to disregard the publication and adhere to the position of the National Executive to allow members exercise their rights in choosing their candidates,” he said.

He recalls that some months ago, ACF invited the presidential candidates from all parties and presented their blueprint and what they want from any of them that emerges as the president, which cleared the air that they don’t support anybody.

“We didn’t take sides among the candidates or their parties. All we want is the right person who will work towards making the country better. This is our hope. We have our individual differences, but at our union level we have no preferred candidate,” he said.
