Accusation of financial inducements trail Plateau guber polls

Financial inducements by politicians at polling units was rampant during the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Jos, Plateau state on Saturday leading to tension and confrontations in some polling units.

Weekly Trust gathered that at polling unit 027, Tudun Wada Moto park in Jos north, mobile policemen arrested an agent allegedly working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for trying to induce a police officer.

Losam Yohanna, a youth leader in Tudun Wada said “the PDP agent only called the police man into a house to speak with him. Electorates started shouting that he was trying to bribe him and the owner of the house also asked them to go out.”

Mobile police officers on patrol were said to have arrested the police officer and PDP agent.
