A total of 81 deaths involving 54 male adults, 21 female adults, a male child and five female children lost their lives in different auto accidents in different parts of Lagos State in the last one year. The state Commissioner for Transportation, Ladi Lawanson, made the revelation at the 2018 ministerial briefing of his ministry to mark the third anniversary of assumption of office by the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
The commissioner said most of the accidents were traceable to human errors arising from indiscipline.
He said 827 road traffic crashes involving 2,372 vehicles that comprised 164 motorcycles, 101 tricycles, 1,686 cars, 853 buses, 196 jeeps, 476 trucks, 85 containerized trailers and 82 tankers were recorded, leading to 1,250 casualties. a
