Accept election results, JIBWIS urges Buhari, Atiku

Election observers of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has urged the presidential candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar respectively to accept the outcome of the election in good faith.

They also urged other candidates to do same in the interest of peace and unity.

The coordinator of the observers,  Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu, who read out the interim report  to journalists yesterday in Kaduna said the presidential and National Assembly elections were conducted peacefully in most states, including Abuja.

He decried the violence recorded in Abia, Delta, Rivers, Kogi, Anambra and Lagos states.

He stated: “Our appeal on behalf of our leader, Shaikh Bala Lau is to advise all the presidential candidates from the major parties and others to accept the outcome of the result in good faith.

“Whoever loses should extend the hand of friendship to the other in the interest of brotherhood and peace. There is always another time for the candidate that loses in future.”

Yusuf said the JIBWIS group recruited ýand deployed 500 election observers across the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to observe the 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Arrigasiyyu commended the conduct of the security agencies, saying: “The security personnel conducted themselves in an orderly manner both on the checkpoints and around the polling units in most of the state as no significant records of intimidation by the security agents were reported by our election observers in most of the states and federation.

“Although electoral materials did not arrived on time in most of the polling units, accreditation and voting concurrently commenced around 10 am to 12 pm.

“There was high turnout of voters in most polling units across Nigeria with most of the voters arriving the polling unit before 6:am in order to exercise their franchise.”
