Academicians beg airlines, others over yuletide fare cuts

A non-governmental organisation, the Forum of South-East Academic Doctors (FOSAD) has pleaded with airline operators to cut their fares during the festive season.

In a statement signed by the FOSAD Secretary-General, Dr Uzor Ngoladi, the forum said air travel has become unaffordable for travellers during the holidays with routes in the South East going for N550,000 for a return ticket.

President Bola Tinubu had announced 50 per cent cuts in transport fares for bus passengers and free fares for train passengers.
