The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Garba, has been nominated as the vice chancellor of the year 2018 because of his serene and pace-setting achievements within four years of administering the university.
This was announced by the management of Education Monitor newspaper in a statement signed by its administrative manager, Sameer S. Yusuf.
He said the nomination goes with a presentation of a merit award plaque in Abuja in an event to be attended by critical stakeholders in the education sector from across the country.
“Our research unit which is saddled with this responsibility has conducted independent research and interviews with staff, students and members of institutions’ host communities on the positive impacts and general achievements of heads of some tertiary institutions across the country,” he said.
He said the ABU vice chancellor emerged winner having scored from 75 percent from a tradition of assessment of positive impacts and ‘A’ performance of chief executives of tertiary institutions and education agencies within the country and abroad.
He said the assessment was for vice-chancellors, rectors and provosts of both public and private universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education.
