This was one of the decisions taken at the recently concluded congress of the Commonwealth Handball Association which held in Cairo-Egypt.

Participating countries for men would include Nigeria, Cameroun, Cyprus, Malta, Singapore and India while the women category would feature member countries like Nigeria, Kenya, India and Malta. It was gathered that Malta replaced England in the Men category while Kenya replaced South Africa in the women category.

While reacting on the congress, the Executive Director of Commonwealth Handball Association, Mallam Attahiru Garba said that Nigeria has never had it so good in the area of sports administration adding that the congress in Egypt was a good ground where Nigeria reaffirmed its giant stride in the area of sports not only in Africa but in the world at large.

He commended the efforts of National Sports Commission in making sure that Nigeria was well represented adding that serious commendation must go to the Director General of NSC, Chief Patrick Ekeji for all his efforts in supporting the Association.

“Ekeji has proved to a pillar behind the success story of Commonwealth Handball Association whose secretariat is in Nigeria and with the way he’s going, I will say that the best is yet to be seen from him” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the newly elected president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, HFN, Mr. Dauda Yusuf told Trustsports that the ministry of the Federal Capital Territory has agreed to sponsor the championship.

He also said that the handball federation which is excited with the opportunity to host such an international competition will make maximum use of all opportunities that would come its way.
