Abuja residents hold football tournament to promote peace, unity

Peace Ambassador Agency Worldwide has concluded plans to thrill sports loving Abuja residents with its new Peace Charity Football Match, which is the 2nd edition.

Scheduled to hold June 11 at the Turf Arena Sports Centre Wuse 2 Abuja, the game is geared towards promoting peace through dialogue and entertainment.

The founder of Peace Ambassador Agency and 100 Most Notable Peace Icons, Amb. Kingsley Amafibe, in a chat with newsmen, said the competition is open for all those interested in strengthening peace in the country.

He said, “We set out to bring everyone who sought to play a role in promoting peace and justice to meet on the football pitch which serves as a neutral venue whilst also encouraging sportsmanship by all and sundry.

“Peace Ambassador Agency is of the opinion that violence is not the way forward at all, we must sort out our differences through dialogue instead, violence must never play a role in any form or shape during the crisis.”

Amafibe praised the success recorded during the organization’s novel edition of Peace Charity Football Match.

The tournament, however, had in attendance political office holders, appointees, celebrities from various fields, business moguls, and a host of other notable Nigerians, Amafibe stated.

Amafibe said the upcoming Peace Charity Football Match will serve as a medium to ramp up support for youth participation in the elections, expressing dissatisfaction that youths have not been largely represented in government despite Nigeria being a very youthful nation.
