Abuja records first rain in 2021

Abuja, on Wednesday, recorded the first rainfall in 2021.

Residents described it as a welcome relief, saying they had experienced heat in the past few months.

A resident, Mohammed Awwal, said: “It rained for about 15 minutes and I got wet before I entered the house”.

Moderate rainstorm was also reported around the Mararaba-Nyanya axis.

At Garki and Area 1, mild drizzles were experienced, lasting some minutes.

A staffer of NiMet told Daily Trust that the early commencement of 2021 rain indicated that there would be a bumper harvest this year.

He advised farmers to start preparing for the new planting season.
