The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has assured that the ongoing Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road reconstruction project will be completed before May 29, 2023.
He gave the confirmation on Friday while inspecting the section three of the project along Kano-Kaduna border.

Fashola however said they are trying to deliver the best project possible without compromising on quality.
According to him, “Our target is to ensure that the main carriage way is ready before May 29, 2023. But, within that target, you see some of the challenges we are dealing with.
“It is important that people understand that if you want to build a road, certain things have to be done properly, so the pavement must be allowed to be ready to take the next stage.
“We are not going to compromise on that quality, otherwise the road will fail. And we have only 24 hours in a day to work, and we want to avoid accidents. So, we are doing our best to meet this target and the President too is also involved in this.
“Because this place is a hub for transporters and commuters, we have to manage about 20,000 vehicles everyday and at the same time building the road, because we can’t close it completely. So, these are the real life challenges we are dealing with.
“In spite of these challenges however, from what I have seen, I can say so far, so good,” the Minister added.
He also appealed to residents of the affected areas to avoid encroaching the construction sites to for their safety.
On the issue of compensation delaying the project in the affected states, Fashola said he has already spoke with Governors of Kano, Kaduna, Niger and the FCT Minister on relocating and compensating the affected people.
