Three of the persons abducted on Wednesday along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway have been released after a ransom was paid to the kidnappers, spokesman of families of the victims, Danjuma Bello Sarki, said.

Sarki, who addressed a press conference in Kaduna, said the three were released at Rijana along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Friday night.

The released victims who were at the press conference are; Kazah Bulus, Simon Terna and Ruth Samuel.

Sarki said based on the information he received from the victims, those abducted by the kidnappers were more than 20.

He said despite payment of ransom and release of some of the victims, as at Friday night, there were still more than 30 people in their captivity.

He said “the kidnappers are young and well organized bandits, mostly within the ages of 22 to 35 and are well armed with sophisticated weapons”.

“When they kidnapped Ruth Samuel and the other passengers in their vehicle, they instantly killed two of the passengers who attempted to resist, before leading the rest to the bush.

“On Thursday, they raped some women and also killed three other people who attempted to escape and threw one of the bodies into the river,” he said.
