The Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Abuja District, Adesanya Oluwole Adeyemi, has said that the district will support the first female Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Dr Oluwatoyin Madein, in carrying out her duties.
Adeyemi stated this when he led the newly elected members of the district and other members on a courtesy visit to Dr Madein in her office on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said, “We congratulate you on this unique and historical appointment as the new AGF. Your appointment can never come in a better time than now, with the additional title of highest honour of fellow from our highly revered institute, ICAN, which ultimately complements the much cherished FCCA.

“As you are commencing your tenure as the AGF, your tenure will record an unprecedented success and become the best tenure ever in the Nigerian history of accountability and stewardship.”
In her response, Dr Madein reiterated the need for training and retraining of accountants to help them discharge their duties professionally.
She said, “In today’s world, accountants must be innovative and update their knowledge to catch up with trends that will help them in the profession.”
