Abuja FMC to admit COVID-19 patients soon – CMD

He made the disclosure Friday during the ground breaking ceremony of the new administrative block of the hospital in Abuja

The Federal Medical Centre Jabi, Abuja, will start admitting COVID-19 patients soon, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof Saad Ahmed, has said.

He made the disclosure Friday during the ground breaking ceremony of the new administrative block of the hospital in Abuja.

He said, “We already have a 40-bed negative pressure facility that has been commissioned and will soon start admitting COVID-19 patients. We have well trained staff and will bring in more to take care of the situation.”

Prof Ahmed said the 60 office-capacity administrative block would lead to expansion of clinical services at the hospital.

He said the hospital was also working towards expanding existing specialties and introducing new ones such as laparoscopic surgeries and nephrology, including kidney transplant among others.

Board Chairman of the hospital, Alex Tosan Ideh, said the administrative block project was conceived about two and a half years ago, because the hospital needed a proper administrative block to enable the hospital function effectively.
