Abuja developer raises alarm over ‘illegal’ demolition

A real estate firm, Praco International Limited, has accused the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) of illegally demolishing its property in Abuja.

Briefing newsmen, the firm’s Project Manager, Chukwudubem Ezekwelu, claimed that the estate, located on plot 581, Cadastral Zone, Kugbo, was demolished despite having authentic and lawful title and approvals.

Ezekwelu said the demolition occurred on March 27, despite presenting an order from an FCT High Court to prevent it.

He explained that the court granted a restraining order following a motion filed by the firm against FCTA, but that despite this, officials of FCTA ignored the order and proceeded with the demolition.

He noted that it was illegal for FCTA to disregard a court order and called for an investigation.

Effort to get the reaction of the FCTA’s Development Control Department on the demolition proved abortive as the Director, Muktar Galadima, was said not to be on seat when City & Crime visited his office yesterday.
