A Grade 1 Area Court in Karmo, Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced Anthony Andrew, 33, to three month in prison for criminal trespass and theft.

The presiding judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave him an option to pay N15,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crimes.

Andrew, who resides at Garki Area 2, Abuja, was convicted over two-count charge against him.

He was convicted after pleading with court to tamper justice with mercy.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Florence Auhioboh, told the court that Idakwo Emmanuel of Mpape village, Abuja, reported the matter at Karmo police station, Abuja, on Feb. 6.

Auhioboh said the convict stole an Alsatian dog valued at N240,000 and the dog was recovered from him during police investigation.

The prosecutor said the offences were punishable under sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
