Businesses in Abuja have concluded plans to build N78.81bn digital trade fair centre and other projects to create jobs.
This was revealed by the First Deputy President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, at the sideline of a meeting between the chamber and the Investment Association of China, held in Abuja.
Kayode revealed that the projects would create 3,000 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs.
He said that the projects would include hotels, convention centres, business, technology, entertainment parks and trade centre which would attract international conferences.
Kayode, who was a former minister of justice and attorney-general of the federation, explained that the chamber had started the building of the biggest shopping mall in Nigeria on seven hectares of land within its complex.
He said that the chamber would lease its 27 hectares of land to willing investors under “the build, operate and transfer agreement,” adding: “We don’t have the whole money to complete these projects but we have the land.
In the meeting, the Investment Association of China expressed its willingness to invest in power sector, information and communication technology. The Chairman of the Investment Association of China, Pansy Liu, expressed the willingness of the association to partner with the ACCI in the development of the projects.
